London Travels

We’ve been in London for the past week, visiting friends and family, catching up on culture and researching potential stockists. It was just over a year since my last trip, and I’m happy to see that the mood still doesn’t seem to be one of recession doom and gloom like we’re lead to believe living outside the UK! New shops and cafes have popped up, areas have been developed, and everywhere we go I’m reminded by great London is. Not only are there a billion things to do, but I also really appreciate being in such a walkable city coming from Delhi.

Tourist Landmarks

It was Maninder’s first time, so we took time out to do a few touristy things that I haven’t done in years, like a climb up to the top of Monument!

Christmas Lights and Windows

And of course with it being Christmas we’ve enjoyed checking out all the decorations… like the Marmite lights on Oxford Street – we LOVE!

And Liberty’s beautifully decadent windows. Of course, we wouldn’t expect anything else from one of the most beautiful shops in London!

Jealous Gallery

Back in work mode, we made a visit to the new Jealous print studio. I’ve know the team at Jealous since 2009 when I was part of their ‘Smallprint’ show with an edition of bird prints. Since then we’ve worked on several editions, most recently a screen printed version of my 200 Peacocks print. They are incredible screen printers and lovely people to work with. Their print studio used to be in the back room of their Crouch End gallery space, but 6 months ago they shifted all their printing equipment to a new space in east London.

They’re doing some really nice work at the moment, and some of my small bird screen prints are currently on display in the Crouch End Gallery.

Happy Holidays

We’ve got another couple of busy weeks in the UK before we head back to Delhi – we’re up in Sheffield for Christmas and down in Devon for New Year. Happy Holidays everyone!
