Safomasi at the London Design Fair 2016
We were back in London this September to show for the second time at The London Design Fair. This year we were involved in three ways. Our own stand, where we showcased our new Tiger Safari Collection, This is India, a special exhibition of 12 India-centric designers and brands, plus Sarah was a panel speaker for the Super Talk: How Travel Influences Design. Read on for all the details.
Stand G02 in Hall T1
We were in exactly the same spot as last year - Stand G02 in Hall T1. Our stand showcased our new Tiger Safari collection, inspired by travels in the forests of central India. Animal prints, camouflage, and our first line of hand tufted carpets featured in our display with a hand stencilled backdrop.
This is India
The first guest country pavilion at The London Design Fair, This is India showcased twelve emerging and established India-centric designers and brands across product, textile and furniture; offering a renewed but intimate perspective on design practices from India today. Curated by Spandana Gopal of London Based Design studio Tiipoi and with exhibition design by Kangan Arora, This is India brought a new perspective on how designers today are speaking both to their local, and international audiences. Other designers that were a part of this exciting exhibition included Aman Khanna (Claymen), Cobalt Design, Injiri, Leah Singh, Objectry, Rubberband, Shed, Taamaa, Taxi Fabric, To & From and Urmi Weave.
Super Talk: How Travel Influences Design
On Sunday September 25th, Sarah was a panel speaker on a discussion about How Travel Influences Design. Chaired by Charlotte Frances, Sarah and her fellow panelists Dylan O’Shea (A Rum Fellow), Camilla Blunt (Charlotte Frances London), Rosie Broad (Tinct) and Andreas Bergsaker shared their own travel experiences, how these have affected their own aesthetic and discussing how global mobility has impacted the industry and public attitude to design. A very interesting session!
